At the 2026 World Water Congress & Exhibition (WWCE 2026), held in Glasgow, UK, from October 4 to 8, a project jointly submitted by CECEP Guozhen won the Silver Award in the Performance Improvement and Operational Solutions category of the International Water Association (IWA) Project Innovation Awards (PIA). The project, titled Smart Dual-Engine Empowered High-Performance Water Ecological Infrastructure: A Full-Cycle Demonstration of Integrated Restoration and Resilient Operation and Maintenance in the Urban Shiwuli River Basin, was recognized for its solid technological innovations, proven practical applications and high-quality operation and maintenance system.

The IWA is one of the world’s most authoritative professional organizations in the water sector. Established in 2006, its Project Innovation Awards are held every two years. With rigorous evaluation criteria, broad industry coverage and strong professional recognition, the awards are often regarded as the “Nobel Prize of the water sector” and serve as an important benchmark for measuring innovation and practical results in water projects worldwide.

Building on close collaboration among industry, academia and research institutions, the Shiwuli River project addresses key challenges in urban watershed ecological management. With long-term, resilient operation and maintenance at its core, it has developed an integrated solution encompassing comprehensive watershed restoration, long-term resilient operation and maintenance, and full-life-cycle management. The approach addresses the industry’s longstanding tendency to prioritize construction over maintenance and has established a replicable and scalable model for innovative watershed management, fully embodying the principles of ecological conservation and green development. By ensuring sustained and stable operations, the Shiwuli River management model helps secure lasting restoration outcomes and has become a replicable global reference for countries seeking to integrate digital technologies with nature-based solutions to address urban water challenges.

CECEP Guozhen will seize this opportunity to increase investment in technological innovation, deepen collaborative innovation among industry, academia and research institutions, further refine its resilient watershed operation system, and expand international exchanges and cooperation. By leveraging its full-life-cycle operational capabilities to advance water environment management, the company aims to contribute more solutions from CECEP to watershed management worldwide.
