On the afternoon of May 15, the Group convened a plenary meeting of the Leading Group of the CECEP Yangtze River Economic Belt Pollution Control Platform to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and directives on promoting high-quality development in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, review and deliberate on the Three-year Action Plan for the Yangtze River Protection drafted by CECEP, and deploy key tasks for the next phase. Liao Jiasheng, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board and head of the Leading Group, presided over the meeting and delivered remarks.
The meeting underscored that advancing high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt is a major national strategy personally planned, deployed and driven by General Secretary Xi Jinping. It emphasized that CECEP must fully leverage its role as the principal platform for pollution control in the region—a vital measure for putting the General Secretary’s directives into action. All levels of the Group were urged to deepen their study and understanding of Xi Jinping’s guidance on the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and to align thoughts and actions with the Party Central Committee’s strategic decisions in order to make greater contributions to the region’s development.
Participants were called upon to place the Yangtze River’s protection in an overriding, decisive position, to focus on priority tasks and increase investment accordingly. With a strong sense of political responsibility and determination, they must embrace challenges, persist in long-term efforts and continuously enhance their capacity to tackle difficulties and ensure that every task and initiative is carried through effectively and yields tangible results.
