Since the beginning of 2018, CECEP has made active efforts to help Fuchuan Yao Autonomous County in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region shake off poverty, thanks to which local residents have enjoyed tangible benefits in terms of livelihood, income and education. From May 27 to 30, Yu Honghui, CEO and deputy secretary of the Party Committee of CECEP, headed a team into Songxian County, Henan Province, and Fuchuan County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, to inspect CECEP’s targeted poverty alleviation work. In the two impoverished counties, Yu inspected CECEP-aided livelihood projects and industrial poverty alleviation projects, visited poverty-stricken households, and held talks with local leaders at county, township and village levels to understand the progress of poverty reduction in the two countries and discuss and explore a long-term mechanism and plans for sustained fight against poverty.

On December 22, 2018, organized by the Chinese Contractors’ Chamber of Commerce in Tanzania, representatives from Chinese-funded companies visited a local orphanage to donate study supplies and living necessities as Christmas gifts to the 20 children living here. China National Environmental Protection Corporation (CNEPC) was named among the 2018 Top 10 Influential Solid Waste Treatment Enterprises in China, which marked the ninth consecutive year for the company to earn the prestigious honor.

On November 26, Qin Lihua, deputy general manager of the East Africa Branch of China Geo-Engineering Corporation (CGC) under CECEP and manager of Tenende-Matema Road (34.6 km) project, attended the completion ceremony of Makwale Primary School located at the site of the project. With a total cost of US>50,000, the school assistance project was co-funded by CGC East Africa Branch (70%) and Belgian company Kim’s Chocolate (30%) and consists of two classroom buildings and a public toilet.

Over past years, CECEP has been offering assistance to Songxian County of Luoyang City, Henan Province, an underdeveloped region. Based on thorough study, the company concluded that the region’s greatest strength lies in its tourism resources, and accordingly drew a plan for its poverty relief efforts. It launched four programs to install street lamps in local rural communities, give their residents access to safe drinking water, collect donations for poor rural students, and promote tourism. The programs all have yielded remarkable results and won high praise from local officials and residents.
